I've definitely enjoyed using tribe. You have streamlined access to different groups and topics, and I love how when a question is posted you can choose to submit a "comment" or an "answer" - this allows the author of the post to easily differentiate from all responses and go to the most relevant one's. Additionally, the ability to "follow" a post is a great one to stay updated on a particular topic that you're looking to learn and grow in. Most importantly, the Tribe team has invested in our community and been receptive to our feedback, which clearly shows they have a customer-centric approach to their work. I'm eager to see all the enhancements that will be launched in the coming weeks and months.
Answers to posts show up in the feed. I rather just see the posts and open them if interested.
- Bringing together an international community - Deep diving into subjects of interest - Learning from industry experts and connecting with individuals who add value to my professional life.
As someone who’s been really interested in community software for years (and who’s used Buddypress and BBPress since 2016), I must admit that Tribe is one of the best tools I have found for the job. It creates a modern approach to community discussion which my team loves. The forum tool, for so long experienced little growth; the static nature of forums has made teams and communities switch to platforms like Discord or Slack, which possess disadvantages including inconvenient threading, the inability for messages to be indexed and horrible user profiles. Tribe is one of the few platforms that has created a home page for forum communities that people want to use. The home page is dynamic with gamification elements, channels take the place of boards in forums while maintaining the same functionality, and it means that Tribe feels like a community chat platform with the functionality of a forum, but the UX of a beautifully crafted Slack or Discord competitor - which it will be.
As a proponent for open-source software and development, I am disappointed that Tribe is not open-source because I feel that so many people that use Tribe for their communities would have so much to give and offer Tribe through developing, however, this is something that doesn't really matter and regardless the project is going to go in the right directions, as seen by the recent update history. Richer user profiles with galleries (like in Buddypress) are something I missed after using Buddypress, and for someone who moderates/maintains a community that shares a lot of files a dedicated file space attributed to users and groups would be excellent. Deep linking with tools like Github & Gitlab for issues and discussions would be good; a lot of developers discuss their software on platforms like Tribe and this is something that I feel is quite important. The pricing plans are relatively expensive but if you can afford it, it's worth it.
I'm finding that my community is enjoying using the forums more and we've seen a dramatic increase in posts after switching to platforms like Tribe - we're still trialling multiple platforms (Buddypress, Discourse, Gitter, etc) but the community does love tribe!
The ability to customize the header and URL allowed for a seamless integration, look and feel from our own website. One of our favorite features is the Reputation Score, which encourages members to actively participate in discussions to receive points.
Sometimes it is unclear how to make certain changes however on the Tribe Community many people and employees share alternative solutions.
Our company has been very happy with Tribe's features and functionality. We wanted to create a community for pharmacy technicians to interact with one another under the umbrella of our certifications and brand as a whole. We looked at a few other companies but ultimately chose Tribe as they had all of the features we needed for a lower price. Although we haven't officially launched to the public yet, the site has been useful both internally and externally as we utilize both secret, private, and public groups. By offering access to an early group we have seen the site's value as individuals share personal experiences, ask questions and help one another.
Tribe is a very good community/forum package: easy to set up, feature-rich, and well-designed. Tribe's team is extremely helpful and supportive, open for suggestions and happy to help - even with the Free product.
Push notifications are not integral, and although available via addons - they are still fairly difficult to set up.
Tribe enabled us to quickly create and deploy a community platform, with a well-rounded, stable, mobile-friendly solution.
To me, Tribe is a great business opportunity. It's like having "your own FB", but without the ads, without millions of cat videos, without all those millions of posts you do no want to see or read (if you do not want them as the host). If you take a small amount of money from every user, you can make a lot of money. That's my business goal in using Tribe.
Dislike? Probably a possibility of adding audio files directly would be great.
Sharing knowledge, giving the opportunity to others for sharing their knowledge, gaining followers.
I really like their customization tool - adding and removing blocks along with embedding, html, and their call to actions. I use them daily.
Although improved, the analytics could be refined more. Not having a native onboarding sequence for members makes it more difficult to onboard them properly therefore, they are not using the community optimally.
It is bringing together our members who are spread globally worldwide. It allows them to connect, share resources and best practices, and have a support system in an otherwise isolating career.
Tribe has been a good platform for laying the foundation for our community. I chose it for its intuitive, clean interface and overall functionality. Getting members to use it consistently is challenging. It's a good repository for information but it's not an effective way for members to communicate with each other.
Not having an app or further developing functionality. The instant message feature is useless. The slow response time for customer service requests is painful.
Connecting easily with busy people.
- Rich functionality - Good UI - Quick onboarding
- Misleading marketing & functionality - False advertisement of multi-language support - Censorship on the Tribe's own forum when providing raw feedback
None, since they lied about multi-language support.
The platform was great and had potential, but they will abandon you as soon as they get the chance leaving the following you created and the hard work you put in, in the trash.
They have horrible support and are willing to leave clients behind even if they supported them in the beginning. If you are building a community, might as well use Facebook, they will be here a while and this company, with the way they act, will not.
None, they deleted my account simply because they didn't want to bother upgrading my community to 2.0. It's not my fault I signed up at 1.0. Any question you ask is quickly removed.
